Live Thread: Senate Amnesty [first] Cloture Vote TODAY (D-Day...the 26th of June)
The U.S. Senate via C-Span Television | June 26, 2007 | truthkeeper

Admin note: The Senate vote to reopen debate on the immigration bill passes 64-35. The Senate will now debate amendments. A cloture attempt will come later this week.

ALL HANDS TO ACTION: CALL, EMAIL, WRITE, FAX, VISIT YOUR SENATORS TODAY!!

As you all know, today is the all-important cloture vote on The Thing. I understand it is supposed to be held at 11:30 a.m. EST, so I figured I'd get the thread up for the prelude that is sure to take place.

If you all haven't seen it, please check out this thread on the vote count per Numbers USA.

In the meantime, keep blowing out their phone and fax lines. It's being said that the WH arm-twisting and pressure on Capitol Hill right now is extremely intense.

Lets start a recall against any Senator who supports the selling out of the US by giving illegals amnesty

Today's schedule announced: Union organizing, Immigration, and procedural votes at 11:50 a.m. At that time there will be cloture votes on both those issues.

Dingy Harry speaking now and opening the debate. He's talking about money being spent on the Iraq War and how it's not going to the classrooms and cities, the Mayors' conference, and Richard Lugar's speech from last night. Of course, he thinks it was brilliant.

This is going to happen. We are being sold down the river. And there really is nothing we can do. By November, 2008, I predict we will be back to politics as usual. I think I am going to the Mexican consulate and obtain a matricula card so I can enjoy all the benefits of being an illegal alien with a get out of jail free Z visa.

Ried is now talking about the Iraq war ...

...and praising Sen. Lugar for his speech on the Senate floor last night to "redeploy" the troops in Iraq. Barf.

I've been researching that, but apparently it's highly problematic since they are federal officials and not subject to recall. Unless a state has an unique recall procedure in place, they can only be booted out by their senate cohorts (Exclusion) or voted out by the electorate.

BTW, Arizona has such a recall procedure in place and has initiated action against McCain and Kyl.

I wish what you just posted wasn’t true. But you are most likely right about it.
