Fred has no chance in Iowa. Romney has control on the ground.

This is a very, VERY dangerous tactic Romney is using by basically claiming he's already won the straw poll. If he doesn't win, his campaign is over. If he doesn't beat Fred by a large margin, it's almost as bad a losing.

You couldn't tell by polling numbers. Romney has less than a 10-point lead (after leading by over 15 points earlier) despite the mountains of cash he's spent there.

Only until Fred stomps into the state.

Fred is taking quite a bit of the McCain and Giuliani campaigns and chalking up undecideds. Romney is going to hit a wall.

Oops! Looks like the greasy-haired gov is losing some of that ground:

“Political Wire got an advance look at a new Strategic Vision (R) poll in Iowa that shows... Mitt Romney still leads his rivals but Fred Thompson jumped to a solid second place and is just six points behind...”

Better look out behind ya, Mitt! Fred’s gaining on you, and he hasn’t even been to Iowa yet.

Fred hasn’t even declared yet, nor has he been to the state or been running millions of dollars in TV ads. It’s over 6 months till the poll, you should wait and see if Mitt can hold his lead before you go and declare him the winner.

Admit it, Fred terrifies you doesn’t he?

he has to hold on to the lead (that's already eroding) for some time yet... and Fred hasn't declared... nor spent a penny in Iowa...
