I resigned my family’s 10 year old membership from our Methodist Church here in Texas last week after discussing whether or not the Bible is the literal word of God. Uur new pastor hesitated and then hem-hawed around finally saying it was open to interpretation in some cases.

The particular points of discussion were openly practicing sodomites in the church membership and leadership, immigration stance, lack of a rock solid no-holds-barred abortion stance, and 1st Timothy prohibition on women pastors.

Had been brewing for a while.

I find this interesting. I have been looking for a church in my area that really preaches the Word of God without compromise. A friend recommended a local Methodist church. Welllll, I guess not.

I am now becoming a Catholic. A difficult and not perfect choice, but Pope Benedict has a lot more going for him than the leadership of the UMC.
