You must understand that California has spent decades creating this and many other problems for themselves.
Once you give up your right to enforce your laws, a fence becomes the next best answer. But it is always at best a second best answer.
You correctly point out that the fence has “reduced” illgeal border crossings. Like I said, a fence will NOT solve the problem.
We can stop illegal immigartion any time we want to, without a single mile of fence. We don’t want to, and so long as we don’t want to, a fence is little more than a show of intent we simply don’t have.

Washington has not been serious about border enforcement since we closed Ellis Island in the 50’s. No fence will change that.
It creates a temporary false sense of security, at the expense of real security.
