Hasn’t Pelosi stated several times that she will not bring the immigration bill to the floor unless there are 70 Republican votes in favor? If this is true and she holds to her word (I know) then there is hope. The democrats must have cover on this and they know it, but unlike the Senate the whole House is up for election next year and they know it!

Your right. Pelosi has said that she will not bring the Amnesty Bill to the floor unless she has at least 70 House Republicans backing the bill. Pelosi needs at least 70 House Republicans for two reasons.

First, she doesn't want this to pass on basically a party-line vote and have an irate public toss the House back to the GOP if they see that Amnesty passed the House on mostly democrat votes. Second, there are a significant number of democrats who will also oppose Amnesty, so Pelosi must have at least 70 House Republicans to back the amnesty to offset the democrat house members who will vote against Amnesty.

My best bet is that she will get no more than half of that number (45) House Republicans to support Amnesty.

You are right. Even, as dumb as she is, she isn't stupid. She knows how unpopular this bill is in the land and if the democrats pass it in the house they will hand the republicans a golden hammer.

I have contacted my house member and he assures me he will work and vote against this bill.
