This petition has been up for awhile. It has been posted on FR at least a few times and I have received three e-mails from organizations promoting it and it is posted on numerous conservative blogs. There are < 48,000 signatures. The pro-amnesty people can get hundreds of thousands of people to march in the streets in short order, we can only get a few thousand to sign a petition from the comfort of their own home. I really wonder how many, outside of FR types, who have actually been contacting their Senators. I think we are out-gunned by the opposition.

Maybe we’re embarrassed that we’ll look like bigots? If we march that’s what they’ll call us, greedy xenophobic bigots...and probably worse.
How many of us will remember today on election day? I hope for a revolution at the polls...we’ll see.

Signed and sent to others here. BUT.....Emails and petitions are being TOTALLY ignored by those in power . It’s time to rally and march on Washing DC.The illegals can get hundreds of thousands out there, every nut job group can do it ..why can’t we ?

I discovered it at Powerline - a blog that does not usually promote this level of activism. Perhaps it will work its way through other blogs.

I have no idea how many we can get - but it is not much to ask people to sign it. I’ve sent four emails and made two phone calls. And tomorrow I am faxing several emails to swing Senators like Coleman, Bond, etc.

We do what we can.

I signed and forwarded this petition. And I agree with you. Unfortunately we seem to believe that our president and representatives will do what is right and what we demand.

If we don’t demand, those who do will get the oil (as in the squeaky wheel...). What is 48,000? Nada I’m afraid. Hopefully people will catch fire before it’s way too late and we’re all learning Spanish.
