Sorry I never got back, it’s just too frustrating dealing with this confuser some days.

The 5 and 70 failed post race inspection. Penalties will be issued and someone will be sent to the penalty box.

We’ll have to wait and see what comes out of this. With all the beatin and bangin out there, I hope they won’t try putting the template on the cars.

They’ve already said there will be penalties but not as SEVERE as the 8 24 48. So no jeans and flip flops for Alan and Booty next week.

Dale Jr. Quotes:
“I want to thank (interim crew chief) Tony Gibson. He filled-in for Tony Jr. (Eury, crew chief who served his final race of a six-race suspension after technical violations in Darlington), and he did a great job. He did more than he was asked and it was a great effort. I was happy with the day. We had a car that could have won and it was fast all day and that’s all I can ask for. A shot to win - that’s all any driver can hope for, and this entire team has been giving me that all year. The six races that Tony Gibson was in charge, we had good cars every week and the joke around the shop is that Tony Jr. is under pressure now because we run better with Gibson! (laughs) But, it will be great to be back at full strength with Tony Jr. back next week at Daytona.

About complaining about the car at the start of the race: “I forgot about the modified race on the track yesterday and I was b###hin’ about my car until the Goodyear rubber got laid down and then we just got faster and faster. We were really good through the middle part of the race and I didn’t ask for enough adjustments as the race went on in the late stages. I think the track got cooler and the car just lost the edge we had through the middle section. It’s good to hear that we led the most laps (64 laps led) and we’ll take all of the bonus points we can get.

“I’m so proud of everyone at DEI - we had two cars in the top-four, and it was fun to race with (teammate) Marttn (Truex Jr). I wanna go out of my way to tell everyone how proud I am of how well we’ve been performing and how much I’ve enjoyed driving these cars every week. It’s been great.”

Best Radio Chatter:
Dale Jr. earned a new nickname - NostroDalemus- when he urged crew chief Gibson to keep strategy in mind after only eight laps of the race. He was very nearly spot-on accurate until two minor incidents late in the race...
Dale Jr: “Tony, I don’t think this race is gonna have a lotta wrecks - so keep that strategy in mind. Don’t base your strategy on a lot of crashs. I don’t think we’ll have that many.”

Dale Jr. spotted a familiar face on the hill outside of turn two during a yellow-flag period on lap 98. The face will return to the Bud pit box next week at Daytona.
Dale Jr: (loud and animated) “HEY! MAN!”
Tony Gibson: “What was that?!”
Dale Jr.: “I just saw a friend out there...”
Gibson: “See if he kept his shirt on this week...”

The team opted to take two right-side tires on a lap 122 pit stop - but narrowly avoided disaster when Gibson spotted the 43 car (B. Labonte) entering the pit box in front of the Bud machine.
Gibson: “Hold it! Hold it! OK, now go go go!”
Dale Jr: “Good job noticing that Tony. I about wasn’t gonna listen ya!”
Gibson: “Well, I’m glad you did. That had disaster written all over it.”

Reassuring the team after dropping to second place on lap 141:
Dale Jr: “I’m running about 70% here. I ‘m trying to save the car and save the brakes.”

On lap 237, while running third:
Dale Jr: “I’m losing the nose in the middle of the corners. I think a spring rubber mighta come outta my car.”
Gibson: “No, Brian (Holshouser, shock specialist) had ‘em taped in there pretty good.”
Dale Jr. (after a long pause): “Just jokin’!”
Holshouser: “That’s NOT funny!”

Today’s Stats
Started: 6th
Finished: 4th
Laps Led: Six times for 64 laps (10 bonus points for most laps led)
Points: 12th place (no change)
Money: $167,058
Best Pit Stop: Stop 2 of 5 / lap 97 / Four tires and fuel / 12.54 seconds

Budweiser. This is Beer.

Wish I could've been here as well as at Wrigley, and that the sporting results were any better than it was from Loudon, but spending an afternoon with GRRRRR and Mrs. GRRRRR just couldn't be passed up. The short version:

It started very auspiciously as I had to change vehicles (was planning on borrowing my dad's Saturn because 38 mpg beats 28 mpg, only to find the brakes weren't up to snuff). I ended up missing the train at Waukegan, where GRRRRR and Mrs. GRRRRR caught it by about 5 minutes (the heavy police presence on I-94 didn't help either). Decided to race the train down, caught the train at the Great Lakes Naval Station only to not find parking, then caught it again at Lake Forest.

Couldn't find them on the Metra train, but did find them when everybody got off to transfer to the El. Had a good talk all the way down to Wrigleyville, scrounged around a bit for tickets and finally settled on some box seats 10 rows off the Brewer dugout (don't ask what the price was; the game WAS a sell-out long ago). Had a delicious lunch across the street from Wrigley, and we forgot we were both at a FReep of Hiliary a few years back. Walked around Wrigley to see what they changed from my last visit there (in 1997), then settled in for what turned into a quick afternoon of ball. I won't mention the game because it wasn't a good result from my perspective.

Other than the fact the Brewers lost, it was a great day.

When the 24 was too low following the Gatorade 150 (qualifying race for Daytona 500), the penalty was starting at the back of the pack (42nd) of the 500.

The penalty was supposedly light because it was an unintentional infraction.

I'm going to do some research. I know he has crashed several racers this season.

Here's one at Martinsville..

Ken Schrader surveys the damage to his car after a wreck caused by David Ragan at Martinsville Speedway.
Ken Schrader says that David Ragan has apologized to him about his actions at Martinsville Speedway, but he still says that Ragan needs to learn more about racing.

I'll find more and post them to you.

More from that same article..

Schrader was one of several drivers angered by Ragan's actions during the Martinsville event and the Roush Racing driver was subsequently not approved for the NASCAR Nextel Cup race last weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, but he has been approved for Sunday's Dickies 500 Nextel Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway. Ragan will run the No. 60 No Fear Racing Ford that has an affiliation with the Roush team.
