Does anyone know how long China's been using lead based paints on children's toys? If it's been a long time ( and test can be run on old toys) there might be an under story to all thisOne wonders if it tracks with the increase in autism.
Perhaps not lead, perhaps not mercury, but there are plenty of insidious poisons that would slip under the radar...

Great minds and all - I just came up with the same idea - just a minute or so ago. Check my tag. Also, there’s been a big upswing in allergies in the last 30 years. Seems like everyone’s got them now. I wonder if there’s a connection.

One wonders if it tracks with the increase in autism. I can't find the FR thread, but Discover had an interesting article some months back (before Chinese additives became an issue) on the links between the immune system and autism:
