The increase would be $664 a year at CU-Boulder. Tuition also would rise at the Denver and Colorado Springs campuses.

Tuition would spike about 14 percent...

Resident students would pay $5,218 per year under the plan, which could be approved Thursday. The proposal also calls for a $724 increase for the average full-time, in-state student at the Denver campus...

The university's total budget would be $2.2 billion, or an increase in revenue of 6.5 percent.

The proposal would increase financial aid at CU-Boulder by 40 percent, in addition to meeting increases in utilities costs and staff salaries.

We wonder how much money goes for 'free' tuition to the illegals...

But that is illegal too, so that will not happen...

Actually, it IS precisely the lower tuition for illegal immigrants that is pushing this.

The politicans would love to raise our taxes again to pay for the illegals to get ‘in-state’ rates plus other discounts.

The governor would immediately sign on.

I wonder how small the percentage is that pays full tuition?

According the Amnesty bill for the criminal illegals, they will receive in-state tuition. Imagine, your son going across state lines, WILL continue to pay out-of-state tuition. What is the message here?

They can easily save bucks by getting rid of useless faculty - which would entail firing the vast majority of the colleges of liberal arts.

Yep, they call it “the DREAM act”.

I pay out of pocket over 15K a year for one of my sons for tuition costs alone for him to attend an ultra-liberal law school. If here/me were an illegal, it’d all be paid, not just half.

The culprit here, IMHO, is Amendment 23, which mandates increased K-12 education spending, which over time starves the rest of the budget, like transportation and higher ed.

Had Owens played his cards right, the way seemed clear to trade reform of 23 for the TABOR "relief" of Ref C, but he bungled it. With the NEA, er, I mean, the Democrats, in charge it'll be a long, long time comin' before 23 is reformed.

It may well be a very long time.
