Good for Liz Dole, she actually has talked with law enforcement.

First time I’ve heard her speak (yep). She seems like a decent Senator for NC.

What;s the word with Charlotte these days? We were thinking of relocating there about a year ago.

I personally think that a good many of the traitors were surprised at the reaction to a cloture vote. They were expecting the cover of a vote on the final bill and now they know it's not going to work.

As far as these creeps are concerned, they should see a vote for cloture as akin to the end of their political futures. With the Internet, there's no hiding now.

On another note should we win, we should expect individual provisions of the NAU and amnesty to be snuck in as riders to any number of other bills. This is going to take a level of vigilance to which even FReepers are unaccustomed.

In fairness, no Senator is going to actually read any bill in its entirety. The staff is supposed to do that and prep their guy to be able to talk intelligently. Which V's staff obviously did not do.

That is the root of the problem though. Why aren't they reading the bills? If they are too long then the question should be asked why simple bills need to be 800 pages long.

This should illistrate that congressmen don't write our laws, life long congressional staffers do. That is why nothing ever changes at the state department and that is why nothing ever changes no matter which party is in charge.

Our senate is broken and needs serious reform.

Norm got my phone call, then ;-) I told him I was a former MN and wanted to be proud of my former state and its people. I told him he'd done so much good with the UN and not to throw it all away with this vote. I also said GO VIKES...

I think THAT got to him. I think I need to call him again though ;-)

Sessions graciously ceding parts of his time to Dole, Corker, others who have helped him work on this.

It is still a good idea to pressure those NOs from the last cloture vote. There is serious arm-twisting being done to change those who we might assume are safe and solid. I am calling Saxby Chambliss again - he hasn’t exactly led on this issue and is prone to carrying Bushwater.

Sen Dole was terrific and talked about Grassley saying the 1986 bill was wrong.

Corker — Based on compassion, party politics who is going to gain the majority, appreciate the efforts of all involved. Encourage them (people who wrote the bill) to vote against cloture — now he is saying why the bill should be killed. Brought up passports — about confidence and credibility — Americans feel they are losing their country to a government that doesn’t have the competence or ability to carry out the things they have promised to do.

A more modest basis and build a foundation that will cause the American people to have faith in this Government.

“If they can kill this thing again, they need to
wrap it in garlic,
drive a wooden stake through its heart,
pour salt on it,
burn it,
sprinkle holy water on the ashes,
place a silver cross on the ashes,
bury it in an unmarked grave,
and maybe it will stay dead this time.”

Don’t forget to shoot it with a silver bullet...

I talked to Cochran’s aides, too, and told them that I had heard that Thad was being strongarmed by the “powers that be” and to hold firm to his convictions.

The aide told me that he indeed will vote against Cloture.

Keep up the pressure folks.
