I asked some follow up questions of Colorado Congressman and presidential candidate Tom Tancredo:
1. What would you do to address climate change in striving for energy independence?
2. What would you do to address taxes, health care, and education in striving for economic vibrancy?
3. What would you do about Iran's nuclear drive and its support of terrorism?
Supports FairTax, School Choice ... No role for the Federal Government in education (praise the Lord!)
On Federal Spending:
The federal government is in debt because it spends too much, not because it taxes people too little. Government spending is classified as either discretionary or mandatory. Discretionary spending includes funds for things like the military and is explicitly set by Congress on an annual basis. But the major culprit in ballooning budgets is mandatory spending for entitlement programs like medicare, expenditures which are determined by the number of beneficiaries. The only way to control the budget is to reform the entitlement programs that mandatory spending funds. Those decisions on how to allocate resources are as economically necessary as they are politically and ethically difficult.

I can’t understand why Tancredo is not doing better in the polls...I like Ron Paul but if you disagree with RP’s foreign policy and want a more agressive US foreign policy while still favoring adherance to the Constitution, fiscal conservatism and generally a small role for the federal government...I don’t see how you like anyone other than Tancredo.
