>> These guys have huge warchests, and full Party support in the Primaries.
You raise a good point.
It occurs to me that starving the “Party” would be a great way to influence the conservatism of the candidates.
Note well that it wouldn’t mean starving worthy individual candidates. Just don’t contribute to the faceless entity of real-estate and chamber-of-commerce tax-and-spend types that make up today’s local grand old “party”.
I think it may be working at the national level; from what I hear RNC contributions are ‘way down. I know that Mrs. Tick and I aren’t giving them another nickel.
Might the same strategy work at the local level?
I figured no-one here needs to be told to vote out a Democrat.
Yes, I agree with you. My plan says, "Build a wall with manned machine gun nests then deport all illegal invaders." ( That's what they are: invaders. )
I am not in favor of sending them home, but I am in favor of stopping the immigration. I guess that makes me unwelcome around here."
If you believe in rewarding law-breaking then how can you possibly call yourself "conservative?"
I have no doubt we could keep his seat , but Craig has pulled more than his share of Conservative weight over the years and saved us from many horrendous anti-gun bills in the past. I’m not sure his replacement could fill his shoes .
I guess the good people of Idaho will make the ultimate decision , if he runs again . I read an article awhile back that stated Craig might not seek re-election .
You are right about Florida Senate politics , the Dims have always done well in Senate races . If Martinez gets defeated we better have a winner running in that race , it will be a tough seat to hold . Martinez has been put in an extremely tough spot, as he feels quite beholden to Bush and was one of the pointmen on this horrible bill .
You might consider contributing to your county party. They tend to be much more conservative than the state and national parties.
Actually, Kathryn Lopez of the National Review:
“A number of Senate sources explain how Senator Brownback appears to have voted today. “when the roll was first called, and he calmly called out ‘aye,’ from his seat. Near the end, however, he walked down into the well and as they called out his name again he voted ‘no.’””
Mr. Lott, I will never forget you. You are a traitor and a no-good B@$t@rd..Its time for you to go back to Mississippi and tend to your goats !! The people won in spite of you and the other RINO SOB’s
Yes, he did; I heard it with my own ears. He voted “Aye” first, then when the writing was on the wall, he switched his vote to “No”. So did a few others.
I was keeping a tally.

I don’t live in states where I can vote against these morons, but I will send money to any candidates who run against them at the primary level.
Sounds like you’re in favor of amnesty!
ROFL
As a Georgian, Chambliss is vulnerable. He ended up voting no when needed but he originally pushed this bill and was hoping to sneak it by us without fanfare. We can do better in this reddest of red states.
Who would be a good primary candidate? Is there anyone thinking about it?
I am a recent transplant to UT from AL (I couldn’t be prouder of my Senator Jeff Sessions) and have already contacted Sen. Bennett’s office telling them that my wife and I have long memories. His vote for cloture will definitely be remembered when he comes begging for money. I’ve already cut a check to Jeff’s re-election fund.
Senator Hatch, by the way, sent what seemed to be a non-form letter via e-mail in response to my e-mail to him. Glad to see he voted the right way on this.

(sigh)
I wish that were true. They are “pro-growth” Country Club Republicans, big on construction, real estate, overbuilt new schools, and HIGH TAXES.
They say all of the right things re: war on terror, gun control, abortion, gay marriage, and the like.
But fiscally, they are every bit as bad as Democrats. They shovel just as much welfare out the door, but it goes to their sweethearts in the building industry.
Immigration gives them fits... they pay lip service to border control (’cause around here they HAVE to) but deep down they LOVE their subsidized Mexican labor. If the construction business didn’t have cheap illegal labor, their bloated profit margins would drop (and so would GOP contributions).
I agree with you..The great State of Georgia can do much better than Chambliss.. How about Jack Kingston ??
Kingston would be good, I’d like to see Herman Cain (lost to Isaakson in the primary last time) give it another shot if possible. Black and real conservative, both fiscally and morally, honest, straight-shooting, and personable.
