Unless you've been living in an igloo in some desolate arctic region bereft of any form of communication with the outside world it should become obvious that the world has been undergoing some pretty violent episodes of extreme weather

Is the weather nowadays really any more extreme than it was a 100 years ago, or a 1000 years ago, or 10,000 years ago?

Not particularly.

It's curious how people have an obsessive need to think they live in unique times. There's also this incredible inability to face the reality that destructive natural phenomena are routine and normal.

People (largely religious apocalyptikooks) like to prattle about earthquakes increasing, too, which is nonsense.

Who knows? In our state they’ve only been keeping records for the last 70+ years. My guess is that it has all happened before and the weather, like the stock market, will continue to fluctuate.
