At a time in the world's history when mankind faces a catastrophe unlike anything in the entire history of humanity (all human history from Adam and Eve to the present has taken place in the last 12,000 years)

Why didn't the author put this sentence at the beginning of the article. That way, I could have stopped reading it sooner.

I should have written that “all of recorded human history” took place in the last 12,000 years. There’s not a shred of written records prior to that ice age period. Check my full 1977 series at http://www.pvbr.com/Issue_1/global12.htm - it’s long but sheds more light.
