Gas Fumes? If there was so much gas in the vehicle that it looked as if it were smoking, it may have dazed him. Maybe even made it difficult to drive and painful to his eyes.

If this thing had gone off, the casualties could have been the worst since 9/11. I think they said around 2,000 people were at the nightclub, which would have been close proximity to the bomb.

Seems like they had trouble finding a guy willing to kill himself in this plot. I think even in his drugged induced state, he was not quite ready to meet Allah.
