The saddest thing of all (apart from the death of the girl of course) was this botched mutilation was performed by a woman.
You would have thought the woman could have sympathesized with the girl. I guess I am just projecting value of human live values on an insane and morally bankrupt culture.

If this woman doctor had been circumcised as a child herself, there may be an element of 'getting even' involved. That, of course, doesn't rule out the insane and morally bankrupt culture as the primary cause of this.
