One other thing was accomplished - 20 million illegals were not immediately legalized.

This is about employers--and states like OK (bless OK!) are leading the way in what individual states, municipalities, etc., can do to fill the vacuum of a Scofflaw Presidency.
This bill would have put a halt to these effort, whish was exactly why Bush, Graham were behaving so outrageously--the Chamber of Commerce is feeling the heat of grassroots enforcement. I predict the momentum will grow...and we'll be seeing dishonest businessmen in orange suits picking up litter on the highways.
So we did come out ahead. Now we still have the ability to work out some innovative ways to put the heat to crooked contractors and employers.

We have current immigration laws. Why are you so certain that all is lost. Maybe now, as is being seen in various sections of the Country, they will be enforced. Just adding more sh@@ would do nothing. That is the clue.

In case you havn’t noticed, the dead immigration bill was amnesty...with a few little sprinkles of “feel good” security measures and loop holes in there as big as the ones between your ears. If that bill was signed into law, it would have kept the “status quo”...and just granted amnesty to 20 million + miscreants.

This will be THE campaign issue of 2008. The first conservative Presidential candidate to declare they’ll send the National Guard to the border immediately upon inauguration and have a wall built by the end of their first term will be the winner, IMO.

You're not defining it correctly. It's the "status quo" of lack of enforcement of the current laws that people want changed, not the laws themselves. There's no reason why those laws cannot be enforced anytime over the next two years, so your claim is completely opposite to the actual point.
Unless, of course, you're implying that the government should not enforce current laws. Does that just hold true for immigration laws, or have you made a mental list of other laws you think should not be enforced?

And might I add - before he got booted out of here, bayourod did this shtick WAY better. He may have been tedious, obscurantist and condescending, but at least he was fairly creative about it.
