No it wasn’t a trap. The dems voted against it because they want to be re-elected at some point.
Voting it screws them with the unions and with blacks. Also, if anything, it wasn’t open enough.
That was the point of the article wasn’t it?
If the 15 Democrats didn’t vote against it, the Bill would have gone to the President for signature.
That would have done more damage to the Republicans then not voting for it. Because if the Democrats voted for Cloture, they would have had the 60 votes and with a majority in the Senate would have got the bill passed.
Of course the MSM fails to mention this.

Once there were enough vots on our side to assure that the 60% required for closure would not be met, Dems and Republicans cast “No” votes to save their sorry @$$es. Had their votes been needed at that point to get the 60% for closure, their votes, in some of these cases, would have been “Yea”.
It’s not a trap for a Republican president. Too bad we don’t have one at the moment.
