Democrats go slow on confirmations
Washington Times ^ | Jul 2, 2007 | Joseph Curl

The new Democrat-controlled Senate has confirmed just 29 percent of President Bush's nominations so far this year, leaving many government agencies without key officials and slowing work to a crawl in some departments.

Since Jan. 7, the president has sent 229 major nominations to the Senate, but just 66 have been confirmed. Those figures exclude U.S. attorneys, marshals and judges, but the White House says those nominations also have an alarmingly low confirmation rate — just 18 of the 46 (39 percent) sent to the Senate this year have been approved.

Shows how utterly bloated the Fed Gov’t is when there are always people awaiting confirmation yet the work (whatever it is these people do) is still getting done.

Thanks to the dopes that stayed home and didn’t vote last november. Judicial appointments is one thing the Bush has done a good job on.

Hey, surrendering to terrorists and handing out citizenship to foreign invaders takes a lot of time!

"yet the work (whatever it is these people do) is still getting done"

I wouldn't be so sanguine about Demagogues keeping out so many Bush political appointees for so long - whatever work is getting done is being done by career liberal bureaucrats and Clintonista holdovers, which is part of the 'RAT strategy in such a confirmation slow-down. Not that I have much confidence in a lot of Bush appointees anymore, but I sure don't want 'RATs and career bureaucrats running all operations in any of the exec. branch departments!!

You raise an often overlooked point. The bureaucracy (leadership and foot soldiers) in government, media, marketing, and mainline Protestant congregations are pretty much in sync.

Elected and unelected officials and judges are reveling in the sun, implementing that which they fail to accomplish legislatively or constitutionally.

It seem that the only place in America that you can be elected by the voters, have the best benifits that the voters can afford to pay for, lie, cheat, steal be as arrogant as you want, and get paid, the honest way, a lot of money fo doing NOTHING is in the sewer called washington.

I do agree with ms. klintoon about using a broom, only it should be used to sweep away all the useless POS that reside there as representives of the voters.
