VAN NUYS - A 27-year-old Los Angeles police officer who worked at the Valley Traffic Division was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said this morning. Brian Lawrence Gossh was booked into the Los Angeles County Jail on misdemeanor DUI charges and released, said LAPD Officer Karen Smith, a spokeswoman.
He was arrested in Van Nuys after noon Sunday, police said. Details about the arrest were not immediately available. Police declined to say whether it was drugs or alcohol.
A call placed to Gossh's West Hollywood home seeking comment was not immediately returned.
In 2000, the Daily News profiled Gossh when he was going through the Police Academy at age 21.
A gay officer, the Austin, Texas, native was attracted to the gay domestic partner benefits that the LAPD offered, he told the Daily News Nov. 26, 2000. He said that he worked as a waiter and in the hotel travel and commercial real estate business in Austin before coming to L.A. and earning a spot at the LAPD.
"I knew the LAPD had close relationships, like a family," he told the Daily News. "When I was growing up, officers helped me; every time there was a call, they were there to help me.
"And I want to give that back to the community." LAPD Sgt. Lee Sands, a police spokesman, said he couldn't comment on the case, citing personnel issues.
Interesting. Most cops don’t arrest other cops for things short of a major felony so he must have been a real a-hole in order to have gotten pinched.
Yep - that's a good reason to become a cop.

Exactly what I was thinking. Either unpopular or utterly and completely drunk. Or both.
Gossh? Gay? Well, golllleeee!
“Governor Schwarzenegger, heterosexual, vows to clean up the air in California.”
See how stupid that is?
He must have been driving his Probe the wrong way down a one way street.
The guy himself stated that he went to work for LAPD because of their accomodations for homosexuals. he allowed himself to to become a public figure because of his job, and his sexual orientation.
Obviously, he himself believes his sexual orientation is important enough to tell thousands of strangers about it.
if he got pulled over by another unit simply for a traffic violation, it would be more likely the drunk cop be let go.
That arrest struck me a odd too. I know cops in TX who if not cars were hit or damaged done woulod have given thie guy a ride home.
Laughed Out Loud!
And the first two don’t count.
and the Daily News is the more conservative of two newspapers in Los Angeles.
And apparently the guy wanted to job because of the perks, not the desire to uphold the law. That, and I’m sure his boyfriend likes guys in uniforms. Ewwww. I’ve just made myself sick.
“A gay officer, the Austin, Texas, native was attracted to the gay domestic partner benefits that the LAPD offered”
Just let California fall into the sea already.
That has nothing to do with his arrest. It’s a non-sequitur. Someone’s pushing an agenda.
It led to his prominence, now it seems he is stuck with the label.
Simply not true.
“Rule One...”
He obviously ignores the 'No Entry-Exit Only' signs.
