London, England (LifeNews.com) -- A teenager in the UK is facing threats from her school for wearing a t-shirt that has a message opposing abortion. Sarah Scott, a 16 year-old who gave birth just four months ago, says the staff at Banff Academy complained when she wore a shirt with the message "Abortion is Murder printed on it.
Scott attends the Aberdeenshire, Scotland school and wore the shirt on a day when students are permitted to wear casual clothes instead of their normal uniforms.
While the school maintains the shirt was offensive and threatened to kick her out if she wore it again, Scott says other shirts are more offensive.
She pointed to shirts worn by students promoting pornography or lewd magazines.
I was wearing the T-shirt when a teacher approached me and that I was never to wear it again because she found it offensive. I was told I could be excluded from school if I wear it again," she told the BBC about what happened.
Scott talked about why she wore the shirt, saying the recent birth of her son solidified her pro-life views.
I was not just wearing the T-shirt for the shock factor -- it is something I am passionate about; it is wrong to kill a baby," she explained.
"I feel I am the one being targeted because I am anti-abortionist. It's not fair because other people get to air their views -- wearing a crucifix, for example, as a sign of religion," she told the BBC.
Responding to the situation, an Aberdeenshire Council spokesman told the BBC: "It was felt the statement on the T-shirt was inappropriate in a school setting and had the potential to cause offense."
This girl deserves credit for not following up one mistake with a bigger one.
Amen to that. Mass persecution for our beliefs is around the corner. This isn’t anything of what it to come.
That, of course, was her big public school faux pas. If she'd been sartorially passionate about using profanity in public or condemning conservatives or ridiculing religion, she'd have fit in just fine.
AMEN! And something that gets lost in the shuffle sometimes. If we support life, we must embrace those who choose life.
The teacher needs to be fired, but it'll never, ever happen ...
We live in strange times my FReind.
There is no doubt that having a child at such a young age will make life tougher for this girl, but if she opens her heart to God’s will, she will be shown how to experience His Abundance.
Good for her! I find shirts that don’t cover the midrif offensive. I find boys with their underwear hanging out of their pants offensive. I find little girls running around the neighborhood all day in skimpy bikinis offensive.
Sheesh! She has a point with the lewd t-shirts, etc. I can’t walk into the young men’s department of Macy’s with my kids due to the extremely rude sayings on the clothes.
I’m glad she chose life. She is a good role model for making a responsible decision after making a bad one. I hope her parents are proud of her!
I appreciate her being pro-life. But she is still a ho-bag.
We were at the mall the other day, it looked like a whore’s convention.
“...staff at Banff Academy complained when she wore a shirt with the message “Abortion is Murder printed on it.”
The staff complained because the girl’s shirt made a statement of fact. Yes well, that is a problem.
How dare she openly defy the okie-doke promoted by abortion-happy types? ‘Specially when everyone knows it can’t be murder because ‘it’ isn’t a human being.
They finally moved the Victoria’s Secret to another level instead of having it directly across from the kiddie play area. I’d walk along with my hand over my son’s eyes.
I meant the teenage girls walking around, they had on less than a Victoria’s Secret mannequin.
We were in a department store one day and passed by the lingerie posters of women wearing nothing but their underwear (barely!). My oldest son, who was about 6 at the time, nudged his brother and said, “Look, Tom! That lady’s getting ready to feed her baby!”
Oh, I don’t doubt that! There are little girls that walk in front of our house with bikinis on. No covers. Nothing. We live on the main drag through town. It’s disgusting that these parents are not more aware. Makes me ill. I want to run out there and wrap a beach towel around them.
What’s most disgusting is that most of their parents ARE AWARE and not bothered by it.
Okay, that is just precious! I love the innocence!
Kids shouldn’t be wearing t-shirts with political messages to school—no matter what the message. It’s disruptive and takes kids’ attention off of what they’re supposed to be in school for. Plus it gets the adults all riled.
Call me cranky but it’s just my opinion.
My children have seen a lot of snoobage over the years ... and they associate it with babies.
"Keep your rosaries off my ovaries"
“My oldest son, who was about 6 at the time, nudged his brother and said, Look, Tom! That ladys getting ready to feed her baby!
ROTFL, if it wasn’t so sad.
Jesus is pleased with her.
And then they wonder why the sex offenders prey.
Doesn’t take much to disrupt a thought, a smile, a wink, whatever. At least it was thought provoking and true.
Good training!! :p
In the USA she would have been arrested and taken out in handcuffs. Which country is further along on the road to fascism?
Good Move! She’s very brave for standing up for the unborn when so many are against them. I bet any amount of cash, that if the T-shirt read, “Pro-Choice, and Proud”, they wouldn’t have said a word.
You Go Girl!
I appreciate her being pro-life. But she is still a ho-bag.
She may have been raped. You shouldn't make the judgement about her morals since we don't know anything about how she was impregnated
