If you were to accuse him of being "charitable", you would be accusing an innocent man.

Gates has been putting a lot of money into his foundation - I think old-style monopolist Slim isn't quite so interested in charity. Actually to his credit he has said he doesn't believe handing out money solves poverty. Poverty is best solved by investing in businesses that employ people.
I don't know if he has donated money to causes like medical research or other.
