Why does he need out of his contract to go to another city?

Let me guess, the cities he wants to go to are Phoenix, LA, Miami, Detroit or San Antonio.

Sorry for being so cynical, but I just don’t put NBA players high on the integrity list.

I don’t think that’s it. I’m not real big on the rules, but I believe it’s the JAZZ that are bound as much as Derek. Maybe someone else who knows more about it will chime in on the contract issue, but I think you’re wrong about his motives too.

Because he wants to live in / very close to the city in which his daughter will be receiving treatment, and she's not going to be getting treatment in Salt Lake City...
