A Nevada man who'd brought two teenagers across state lines to work as prostitutes in Oakland, San Francisco, Sacramento and Los Angeles has been sentenced to life in federal prison without parole, prosecutors said.
Juan Rico Doss, 38, of Reno, Nev., was sentenced Monday by a federal judge in Riverside.
A federal jury convicted Doss on June 26, 2006, of two counts of sex trafficking of children, three counts of transporting minors into prostitution, one count of conspiracy, and two counts of witness tampering.
Prosecutors said the trial evidence showed that in May 2005, Doss conspired with his wife, Jacquay Quinn Ford, to transport two girls -- one 14 years old and one 16 -- across state lines to work as prostitutes; the 16-year-old was recruited and transported by use of force. Ford pleaded guilty to conspiracy and cooperated with the government, testifying against her husband; now 28, she was recently sentenced to 15 months in prison.
Doss' earlier trial ended in a mistrial after the 14-year-old refused to testify. Investigators found Doss had coerced her into silence, which led to the witness-tampering counts in the second trial.
The judge found his previous conviction in Nevada -- for pandering of minors for the purpose of prostitution -- qualified as a prior sex offense under the federal statute. Doss is among the first convicts in the nation to receive a mandatory life sentence under federal law for repeated sex offenses against children.
That should call for death imho.
Just doing the pimping Americans won’t do!!!
Why did his wife get off so easily. 15 months v. life?
This is my guess why.
Female
Females generally are sentenced more leniently than males.
If they prosecuted her, she would whine about how she was coerced, just like the kids, and a jury might feel sorry for her and let her go . . . . so they might as well get some evidence out of her.
She's still a convicted federal felon, which is no laughing matter.
I just noticed the 10 year age difference, too. A good lawyer would characterize her as just another victim.
[cue “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp”]
“..sentenced to life in federal prison without parole..”
A sentence that fits the crime.
And since it’s a federal sentence the low-life will die in prison. They really mean “without parole.”
I agree. Thats so unbalanced
I agree, but he’s done!
A slow death at the hands of the children’s families. At least he got life. That’s more than some of these scumbags get...
The wife should be turned loose.
Women are allowed to murder and rape in America. That’s the rule. Maybe if she had shot one of the girls in the back with a shotgun she would need a mental evaluation before being set free... but otherwise...

Only works for a female; if his and her age were inverted he would still have a harsher sentence
He would still have received a harsher sentence, because she turned state's evidence and he didn't. That encourages people to rat out their co-conspirators. Sometimes it's a race to the plea calendar.
You doubt the evidence ?
Have you not seen the numerous teacher/student molestation threads where the female teacher is (almost) always pronounced innocent by Freeper acclamation after a seductive picture is posted ?
Let's not kid ourselves here. We both know what's going on.
