Presently, firemen, policemen (including college police officers), I believe, are the largest groups in the state who can retire after twenty years. If you’ve done 4 years in the military prior to joining, CalPERS will count this towards your retirement as well. Join the Army at 17, get out at 21, join the CHP, be retired with 90% salary just prior to your 40th birthday, assuming you don’t get early retirement for disabilities.

No. Most of the law enforcement programs require minimum age 50. You can get up to 3% times years of service at age 50.
I would like to know which unions are getting 20 years times 3% at any age.

Plus, I believe you have to buy your military years to count them towards your retirement.
