I respectfully submit that it is an unwholesome temptation and overused by even the best of presidents. I consider myself a strict constructionist and lover of the Constitution, but the problem of an overreaching SCOTUS, which has been the case since Marbury vs, Madison, should be addressed in a manner other than allowing a political figure to override a judge, jury and/or prosecutor. I’m sure that Mr. Libby is guilty of no more than a faulty memory, but letting ANY human being had out ‘get out of jail free’ (or, in Libby's case with a huge fine, etc) cards is more power than should be given to anyone. Just my .02 The farther we get from a powerful presidency (it has been far too strong in relation to congress since FDR, if not Lincoln IMHO) the better.
