Sorry Freekitty, but under the doctrine of sovereign immunity, long established and deemed a part of the Constitution by numerous Supreme Court opinions, the government is immune to suit unless it grants a right to do so. To quote Justice Scalia, such waivers of sovereign immunity are to be narrowly construed, meaning that the waiver must be very explicit and concern very limited types of suits.
As much as I sympathize with your sentiments, the way to deal with this is by electing those who will actually do what they say. That's a tuffee. Any suggestions?
