Three Republican candidates also released their lists:

•Hunter began publicizing his earmark requests last year, when he was chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. Now its top Republican, he uses most of his requests to seek better equipment for military troops in war zones. The Californian also wants to spend $1 billion to build an 854-mile fence along much of the U.S. border with Mexico to reduce illegal immigration.

"Others may call those earmarks. I call them doing your job," Hunter says. "I like people to see what I'm doing."

Interesting look at earmarks. As always, go Duncan Hunter, our man on border security!

I agree with building the fence on the border....but, I don’t agree with earmarks. If something is important, put it in a bill by itself. He can justify his earmark but so can others with their earmarks. If only in their own minds.

Agreed on earmarks, we should get rid of them, but it’s like asking an addict to wean himself off drugs. Incidentally, to his credit, getting rid of earmarks is one of McCain's hobbyhorses. In any event, at least Hunter is trying to find a way to force the fed. government to do its primary job...I'm disgusted with this administration's record.
