Thank god teddy kennedy only left a woman submerged in a car to die. If he had attached a dog carrier to the roof of the car he would never be a senator today!!
I'm not following your analogy. Yes, killing a woman is worse than abusing a dog; the one pales in comparison to the other. But does the one excuse the other?

Ted killed a woman and ran for President.
Mitt attached a dog crate to the roof of his car and nothing happened but the dog threw up. He is now running for President. Who did more damage?

Why is this news?

Maybe Al Gore tore wings off a fly once while he was in high school and voters in 2000 should’ve known!

As someone who grew up in that era (yeah, I'm just a few years older than Romney's son Tagg), this type of thing was commonplace.

There were no monster SUVs. The biggest thing for most families with more than two or three kids were station wagons.

My Dad generally drove (except when he wanted to sleep, when Mom did) and Mom sat in the folded up rear seat with all but the two kids who had "earned" their turn to sit in the front with Dad. She made sandwiches to keep the brood fed while the wagon sped down the road. There were NO seatbelts.

The pets rode in the carrier on the top of the wagon along with the suitcases and anything else not needed for the immediate trip inside the wagon. Dad didn't even make a windshield. If the pets were lucky, they got the carrier positioned behind a suitcase so they had an open window on the side.

A rest stop (if we were lucky) might be a DQ or a small city park where Mom could actually make sandwiches on a table. Generally, we drove all night, Mom and Dad switching places while the other slept. It was only if we got a really late start or one of my parents was really, really tired that we got treated to a KOA Campground or the equivalent. We kept a tent on the top of the car for such special occasions. Usually, Mom and Dad and the two littlest kids got the tent. The other four of us slept in the back seat. Three across and me (as the middle child) along the length of the bench front seat. The pets got out of their carrier and slept on the front-seat floorboards on such luxurious occasions.

Bottom line is that Romney's pets and his kids had it a lot better than most vacationing middle class families of the era.

Perhaps the point of the analogy is that there is the media and the liberals (was that redundant?) want us to know about Romney’s dog but won’t comment on Kennedy’s girl.
