In the five years between the 2002 kidnapping of 12 state legislators by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the rebels' recent announcement that 11 of those hostages have been killed, much has changed for the better in Colombia.

I guess in today's environment the media would really crucify a president who used his pardon power to commute the sentence of, or grant pardons to, members of a terrorist organization like FARC.
