Why do we care if a politico visits a prostitute when the vast majority of them ARE prostitutes in one way or another?

Entertainment value.
Because publicly discussing their spending our money and infringement on our liberties is so damn depressing.
Sex life? Who cares? Breaking the law? Now we have a problem worth discussing.
In this case, if the Senator is truthful in stating that this behavior is behind him, that he has sought forgiveness, then I would not change my vote based on his past behavior. Forgiveness is a good thing.
However, I do think that stories like this belong in the public square, because they involve personal character and trust.
You obviously weren't on FR during the Clinton years ....
Because when they campaign with family pictures of themselves with their wife, children, and dog, they want you to think that they are great family members. If they bring their families into the campaigns, then their private lives are open to public scrutiny when they win office.
