Marcilio Filho is a Brazilian immigrant, in the country illegally, who works three jobs to support his family. Patrick O'Brien, also a husband and father, is a landscaper who is losing customers to Filho, who can charge less because he doesn't pay taxes. These two fictional characters clash in Hopkinton resident Karen Webb's "Green Grass," which won second prize for short screenplays in the 2007 Vail Film Festival Screenwriting Competition.

http://www.greengrassfilm.com/ "Green Grass" Synopsis: The grass is always greener..or is it? An ILLEGAL immigrant and an Irish-American, two competing yard landscapers, face a moral dilemma as they fight to do the right thing for their families.
Pinch Hit Productions, screen play & producer Karen Webb, 508-361-2571 email: karen.webb@comcast.net Co-producer Dawn Morrisey.."The screenplay also is personal for Webb's co producer Dawn Morrissey, a Waltham resident who is an immigrant from Ireland. Although Morrissey, 38, has a green card, many of her friends don't, and over the years they have encountered all kinds of problems as a result -- worrying about health coverage if they got hurt on the job, for example, she said. So the script immediately grabbed her. I could see the fact we could easily market this to the festivals because it's such a hot-button topic," said Morrissey, who helps run the Magners Irish Film Festival (formerly the Boston Irish Film Festival)."
SOUNDS ALITTLE BIASED AND PREACHY FOR MY TASTES!

On a side note: I read parts of a story on MSN (Tulsa's Illegal Immigration Wreck) and a man named Gary Rutledge made this statement that is on-point:
"You come in illegally; everything you do from that point on is illegal. And so it's almost impossible to get a drivers license or insurance so you just start breaking one law after another. I think its seductive. I think after a while ... you don't pay too much attention to rule of law that this country was established on."
Saw that Tulsa MSN article, did you read the responses to it...99% were anti illegal. I think this problem is going to continue to heat up until something blows!
I live in the Eastern Seaboard Central of “Publically -Tax Payer Sponsored -ILLEGAL ALIEN SITES being BUILT to Support those Illegals SEEKING Illegal JOBS!
And THESE KNOWN “ILLEGALS” are being hired IN PUBLIC by those money hungry, So-Called
“American Citizen” Contracting/Lawn Care Small Business OWNERS( Relatives/friends OF the Mayor/Assmebly men&women!)(Screw the REST of ; “America, their neighbors, friends.!)
And a TAX PAYING Citizen of this town can NOT even get a local Police officer to follow HIS/HER Sworn DUTY to the Town to Uphold the Laws- and go ARREST , when legit and proven charges are pressed on those with:
-NO Id’s,
-Caught Driving with NO LICENSES / Insurance and RELEASED AFTER !
-Loittering on Private Property to “Wait” for Jobber-vans,
-Cash Actual PAYCHECKS at the Local Check Cashing est. WITHOUT ANY “form of ID”-(Which has since closed & moved across town!) and with “Faked”, bogus Pay CheckStubs!-using REAL Account Numbers though, with:
-NO Fed, State TAXES paying “paid”: But appearantly being “Reflected” on the Ilegals home-made, PC generated “Pay Checks!
What a Great Scam! Not only are these “Contractors” rippig off the Town’s Tax payers! They are stealing so-called “Tax withholdings” from their Illegal Workers and NOT Filing Income tax OR Claiming “Employees”!
And the Police stand by and do Nothing! THEY “Gave Up”- and the Good police are leaving- and yet the Town will have VERY Beautiful LAWNS!-Especiallythe TOWN PUBLIC AREAS!- but left with a lackluster police force.
Explain THAT one to Our Seantors/Congress!
Of Course- Schriallry’s House in Chappaqua is Maintained BY A COMPANY that Knowningly Hires illegals!( She will state soon she is 1/180th Illegal Alien/MEXICAN on her Great, Great Grand mothers’ side! and the Press will eat it up!)
WHERE IS THE PRESS ON THIS!?
(And Rome Burned...)
