HOUSTON A state lawmaker who opposed a bill giving Texans stronger right to defend themselves with deadly force pulled a gun and shot a man he says was trying to steal copper wiring from a construction site, police said Monday.

Still bears repeating.
I called his Austin office and asked if he’d changed his views on castle doctrine considering that he had just exercised the right he wanted to deny to other Texans. His staff said he would have to address that directly and would have to call me back.
I won’t hold my breath.
