Predicting that war with Syria could erupt if Prime Minister Ehud Olmert does not begin peace negotiations with Damascus, the latest IDF assessment also states that such a conflict would be "at least 10 times worse" than last summer's conflict with Hizbullah.

Military Intelligence is also identifying and pinpointing targets for the IDF in the event that a strike is launched against Iran's nuclear facilities.

MI recently established a new division to translate intelligence into concrete targets and information that can be used by units in the field. The new division is headed by Brig.-Gen. Nitzan Alon, a former commander of the General Staff's Reconnaissance Unit (Sayeret Matkal.) The Israel Air Force has its own department that is responsible for processing intelligence and identifying targets.

I feel that with the advent of PC fighting tactics, the glory days of the IDF, and any other western democracy fighting force, are over.

Oh Zeus,! bring back the Spartans.

I think Olmert has to go, but I blame Bush and Condi as much as him. They got together with France & pulled the rug out from under Israel at the UN. Hezbollah didn’t win by any means, but in the twisted logic of the Middle East, surviving the Israeli onslaught = victory.

Yes, when was the last REAL war? The US thinks it has lost after 4,000 soldiers dead. In ancient battles, 20,000 in a single day was not a rarity.

If I was the Israeli PM, I would state at the outset, any attack on our soil, and we will bomb Damascus until you surrender. So politically incorrect. Don’t bother fighting a war if you don’t intend to win it. Otherwise, it is just horsetrading, a diplomatic tool, with soldiers as the pawns.

Why is it that during the present Iraq war, the borders with both Syria and Iran are also not fully protected to the best of abilities? There are still porous borders in Iraq, and there are also still porous borders in the U.S.!

So, US’s fault again? Bush’s fault.

Israel is a country that is very strong in it’s convictions. Very strong in it’s ability to defend itself … at least until wousification set in (Olmert). We suffering from this in our own country. Once they get a leader in office that has a set, we will see a different Israel.

Netanyahu comes to mind., a man who would get the job done. Ragheads far and near would quick with him in charge. As they did when he was running Israel in the past.
