I spent a week in Poland in October 1989. Change was in the air. Solidarity had just won the parliamentary elections. Everyone spat when they spoke of the communists. Reagan was their hero. I loved the Polish people. I only remember one word in Polish, Pivo (beer). I still have solidarity pins and one that says remember Katyn.
