Have you read other stuff by Tooley? He heads up the IRC’s Methodist group, tracks the Methodist drift away from Biblical tradition and the to the political left.
The American Spectator article indicates that the various “governing bodies” (I use that term loosely) of the Methodist Church have held fast to its scripture-based opposition to homosexuality. This hardly seems to indicate a turn to the left. But, as I said, Methodism is very decentralized and individual pastors and congregations differ in their attitudes, for example, towards an openly homosexual churchgoer. The Methodist church I attend, however, would never accept a homosexual minister. By contrast, the Episcopal Church split wide open over this issue.
