Well, I know that a lot of beleaguered Methodists are choosing to stay and fight for their church, not that I blame anyone for leaving a church in apostacy in a local church or in the denominations governing body itself. Wesley changed the world for the better in my opinion. I’m not a Methodist but if it was “old school” Methodism it would still be a wonderful church.
Two incidents in particular made me want to leave. In my little nieces Sunday school class, they were teaching the Circle of Life, which is a Wiccan thing.
Secondly, on day I was having a discussion with an elderly lady about homosexuals and the church. She believed that it was just fine to accept into church membership practicing, unrepentant homosexuals. She saw it as a loving and compassionate thing. While I believe we should love them, pray for them, accept them when they have at least made an effort to turn away from sin, I do not believe the church should accept their lifestyle or accommodate it in any way.
If this sweet old lady, who should have known better, was that brainwashed, then I figured that she wasn't the only one. She represented the majority view in that church (and probably the denomination.)
P.S. If you are reading this and disagree, then you don't have a problem with me, you have a problem with the Bible and orthodox Christianity.

It was. I will grieve for the rest of my life over what happened to our community. Our family life revolved around the church. We went twice on Sunday, every Wednesday night for dinner, and often there were events on Saturday. No smoking, no drinking, no dancing, no gambling, no movies on Sundays. Those were the rules. Children went to Vacation Bible School in the summer, and the adults never had to worry that they would be indoctrinated into homosexual cultism. By the time my son was 14, our pastor was wearing black leather, endorsing the sleazy films "American Beauty" or "The English Patient" as works of art, and showing "The Rock" and similar violent movies at Methodist Youth Fellowship. He was closeted, but several of the other pastors in my last ten years in the UMC were openly gay or lesbian, wore the rainbow stole, et cetera. I had to get out for my son's sake, not to mention my own.
