..I know something about Dr. Land--he spoke at my church a few years ago.

He is a very very powerful voice in the SBC and amongst evangelicals in general.

He is a very good man and very good in the area of Christian activism and ethics.

And like any man, he can be mistaken, unless he has a chapter and verse to prove it.

I have a link to his site on my profile page.

Duncan Hunter and his family attend Alpine Baptist Church, which is SBC IIRC.

Hey Walter.

I am sure that Dr. Land is an honorable man in every way.

I have heard Dr. Land speak on the radio several times, and had no argument with what he said. But I think it is premature to endorse a man who hasn’t even announced yet, nor relayed any inkling of his policies other than in platitudes and cliches. So why wouldn’t Dr. Land wait until both the above have occurred before putting his name behind the candidate? It seems rash to me.

I think most ministers and pastors have few objective political opinions, because they focus mostly on spiritual, not worldly matters. My pastor is one in a million, and his flock has increased exponentially in the ten years I have been a member of his church, but he is relatively naive about politics, and he would be the first to admit it.

If Dr. Land would endorse anyone just yet, I would expect him to put his name behind a candidate about whom he has the opportunity to be much more familiar. Of course, Dr. Land may not be as conservative as Rep. Hunter.

I appreciate and respect the fact that you are burdened to vote for a certain individual. I guess what concerns me is that you "torpedo" people like Rick Warren and Dr. Land with derogatory comments. I didn't realize Rick Warren was running for President. Where does that burden come from?

Rick Warren is not running for president, nor did I infer that he was. He is the author of “The Purpose Driven Life”, a feel good book about religion. I made no derogatory remarks about Dr. Land. See my post #42. I simply disagree with him. For not bad at all, you are pretty bad. ;)

“A Christian man should lead us”...like Bill Clinton? I wouldn’t consider Bill Clinton a Christian, but I cannot be the judge of his heart. Are you saying Fred Thompson is not a Christian. Can you make that kind of judgment? I realize that we can evaluate the fruits of peoples labors and life and make a judgment. However, I think you are getting into some pretty murky water. Our country has had some great godly men who were Presidents that might not be considered “Christians”. I have served under some great leaders that were not “Christians.” I believe in Providence and the Lord will see to it who is the next President of our country whether the person is a “Christian” or not.

What did Rick Warren have to do with Fred Thompson? I guess I don’t understand the personal attack on him. Maybe I miss understood your comment about Dr. Land
“This Evangelical Christian says that what Richard Lamb doesn’t know could fill an encylopedia.” That seems like an attack to me.

“Thompson skips along singing a happy tune because he’s not officially in yet.”

La la la la la la la. Yodie yodie yodie.

Fred T is breezin’ along while the other guys work their hearts out. It’s pretty sickening.

This is about as shallow a piece as I have ever seen.

There you Fredheads go again. I was speaking about MY candidate - not Bill can’t keep it in his knickers Clinton, whom could not do what he has done politically and still be a real Christian. Not Fred Thompson because I know absolutely nothing about him, but what his groupies say. You have your opinion, bad. I have mine. Please do not presume to put words into my mouth. And kindly gather some modicum of manners about yourself.

One thing that interests me is it seems Fred is greatly popular in the South. He seems to appeal to the rural southern republicans. On the other hand I don’t know how popular he will be in the rest of America. For example on the economy he hasn’t yet really addressed any reforms or ideas that affect the big urban northern cities in the global economy. Romney has a tax simplification and lowering plan.. Guiliani wants to concentrate on america’s strong economic industries it sounds like, as examples of their plans.

On the other hand Romney and Guiliani are big city Republicans.. different brands. Romney is popular in the midwest so far, and the new england states. Guiliani in the super states of new york, california and florida.

I think whoever wins is going to be the one who appeals the most outside of their natural regional base.

I agree. All of those are important. I hear nothing about FT here though and I have asked several times. What does he believe in? Where does he stand? Is he a Christian? As I said, he may be ok, but I wonder if he wasn’t grabbed as an alternative to Rudy, too hastily. I would like to see debate between these two.

I’ve been reading his governmental record and it is very impressive, as is his resume. Most articles only give the short version. Abbreviated. What he has actually done is a long list and very impressive. Especially in fighting corruption.

Marie Ragghianti and Governor Blanton
Cpl. Lance Fielder [have you heard of him?]
Watergate

People toss that off as if it means nothing, but Sam Dash [Democrat majority counsel] was very impressed with him. The Republicans were out there, and ended up getting Nixon to resign and he was one of their own. You don’t see Democrats doing that.

I don’t think anyone among the candidates has the experience and history of fighting corruption that he does. If I wrote everything I could think of the post would be so long you wouldn’t read it.

People who know him well, know him best are very impressed with him.

You might spend some time filling in the blanks for yourself before you try to wave people off from Fred. A little fairmindedness would be wonderful.

“Well this Baptist is supporting Duncan Hunter sir.”

Good for you, decisive person that you are. Before the primaries ever get to my state in May 2008, most of these people will already have dropped out. I’m trying to support as may conservative voices as possible, knowing that most will be gone before my state rolls around. I doubt that I’ll get a chance to vote for Duncan Hunter as I don’t expect him to still be there. I like Duncan Hunter, but I’m going with Fred. It would be really nice if it were possible to be friends with Duncan Hunter supporters but a lot make it very difficult.

I’m with Fred.

Hey Cindy! How was school? You may not get any of your answers, or a good civics lesson from some of these groupies. More likely, you will have to get your information where ever you can find it.

Until FDT does announce, and begins to reveal his policies, you will have to depend on his record. Just be sure it is reliable. And study all of the candidates in order to find the candidate you want to support.

Welcome to the voting world. I have two grandaughters who became 21 this summer. But then, I guess people can begin to vote at 18 these days, so maybe you’ve already been there and done that. :)

That’s good about his rating with abortion rights and the ACLU but can you delete all the committee and chairs and let's see what we have?. They all, the whole mess of them do that.
