I think our biggest problem over the last decade has been a lack of the sort of aggressive, lowdown and dirty intelligence assets we once had. We need the sort of very powerful and sinister CIA the lefties like to fantasize we have. We are still paying the price for the Church Commission hearings in the '70s.
Like Sherman said: "War is hell." We need to be as ruthless as these people and much more clever.
Bin Laden needed to be dead after the USS Cole was attacked and the embassies in Africa were bombed. We could have easily gotten him then and probably without having our hand evident. Make it look like the Iranians did it. Spread dissension and mistrust among our enemies.
In WWII the Germans were under the impression that they had a large network of agents in England. In reality the Brits controlled every single agent. As soon as the landed a new Nazi he was arrested and given a simple choice: Work for the Brits or be put up a wall and shot. Most cooperated. We, on the other hand, coddle the prisoners at Club Gitmo.
We need to harden ourselves: The sooner we get serious the sooner we can make peace with a reformed Muslim world and live in peace.
We just need to go CRUSADE on them!
