You sound like a Libertarian.
It would never occur to you that some of us may have more information about a candidate's plans than you do. Furthermore, just because a candidate jumps into the race early doesn't mean he can sustain the campaign until the primary (e.g. McCain). You view the world through an incredibly myopic lens.

I pity the fool who .... is you.
Resorting to insults. Very clever.
People have been treating McCain as a candidate even though there is a substantial likelihood that he will not even make it to the first primary (and there are others in that boat).
People have been treating McCain as a candidate because he officially declared his candidacy on April 25th! His failure or success is Irrelevant!
You're a fool to attach so much importance to a legalistic "declaration of candidacy".
It's more than a technicality. A person who declares must follow criteria, especially in regards to campaign funding.
Public Funding Of Presidential Elections
Now who's the fool?

Hmmmmm! I state Fred maybe the best candidate if he runs and somehow you make another assumption I am a Libertarian. You know what they say about assumptions and in this case it's also true.
It would never occur to you that some of us may have more information about a candidate's plans than you do.
Oh really? You could only know more with respect to Fred if he told you personally he was running. Until then it is not a fact.
Furthermore, just because a candidate jumps into the race early doesn't mean he can sustain the campaign until the primary (e.g. McCain).
I agree but if he "jumps' into the race early it means it is a fact that person has officially declared his or her candidacy! Fred hasn't! Big difference!
You view the world through an incredibly myopic lens.
I'm viewing it realistically a fact that Fred is not yet a candidate.

I believe your lengthy response simply confirmed that you are a Libertarian with a myopic lens for politics.
Why is public campaign funding such an issue with you for Fred's campaign?

Rudy! won't play well any farther south than New Jersey, nor much farther east than Ohio.
Can you say "Eastern RINO?"

Youve got to be kidding, right? Fred is running the most brilliant campaign Ive ever seen. There is no way he isnt running.
I hope your right but there is no joke about the fact he is not yet a candidate.
You keep telling yourself he might not run... LOL.
Time will tell!
And I thought it was just libs who were obtuse...
Obtuse like those who assumed Dewey would defeat Truman?

People have been treating McCain as a candidate because he officially declared his candidacy on April 25th! His failure or success is Irrelevant! So a "candidate" who has a good chance of never actually being on a single ballot should command greater attention than the "candidate" favored to win the Republican nomination for the presidency?
Now who's the fool?
Still you. Fred, of all people, is very, very unlikely to accept matching funds. He's raising money already in his exploratory phase.

I'll give you credit for being consistent with your incorrect assumptions. None of my posts in this thread have stated I'm against Fred receiving campaign funding if he runs. I suggest you re-read my post #22 that merely refers to what the criteria is for someone who does declare, making it more than just a technicality.

You keep missing the obvious point. The fact remains right now Thompson cannot win the Republican nomination because he has not declared his candidacy!

Rather than worrying about public campaign funding, I suggest you do some research to learn how early this campaign season began compared with other U.S. Presidential campaigns in modern history.
Rather than acting disturbed that Fred Thompson has not formally declared, you should be relieved because he isn't using taxpayer funds and resources for security unlike the candidates who formally declared many months ago. The Secret Service has neither the funds nor the manpower to sustain security for each of the myriad candidates in this ridiculously long campaign marathon. As a result, security staff have been pulled from Border Patrol and TSA Airport Security to babysit the early bird candidates.
You have a bug in your behind about the fact that Thompson hasn't signed a form to make things real for you. How incredibly cement-brained.

Hillary has VERY high negatives with the general public. She will undoubtedly pick Barack Hussein Obama or Bill Richardson as a running mate if she gains the democratic nomination. The fact that she needs either one to assure their ethic groups will vote democrat is a sign of her weakness. John Edwards would be the George McGovern of 2008 if he somehow beats out the other two front-runners.
I feel that Fred Thompson should be able to win against any combination of these four (much less a Kucinich, or one of the other lesser known candidates), especially if he pairs up with someone like Duncan Hunter, John Bolton, Michael Steele, possibly Mitt Romney or a similar conservative. Al Gore is the wild card.

I havent made my mind up yet on the candidates...surely Fred is a strong possiblity. If he picks Hunter he will have locked my vote for him.
BTW Edwards was handed the senate race by worthless NCGOP staff and consultants. He was trailing till the last few days.

While I feel sympathy for a woman with breast cancer (my mother is on her second bout), I believe the ambush of Miss Ann Coulter was a low blow, orchestrated by MSNBC, of course. The press will do anything within their power to assure the democrats retake the White House and keep control of congress next year. I think the Rathergate scandal showed us that. Now the dems in congress are working hand-in-glove with the MSM with these 300 investigations & hearings, some of such dubious legality that President Bush isn’t even playing along.

I love Hunter, Bolton and Steele. As for Mitt? I could live with it. But, I noticed you omitted Huckabee. Oversight, or do you not think him to be Conservative enough?
