Many times photos reveal so much of the surrounding terrain that a little research could locate the area for plunderers. The area where most of the Gallina pithouses is located, or at least where they are most densely distributed, is mostly privately-owned. The ranchers who own that land protect their land and the sites much better than the feds do; consequently, some of the sites are in pristine condition.
