(Charleston) -- South Carolina's Department of Motor Vehicles has about ten thousand drivers manuals printed in Spanish.
But after they are distributed the agency says no more will be printed.
Senate President Pro Tem Glenn McConnell of Charleston says he was shocked to learn the state had the Spanish manuals. He says the official state language is English and official business should be conducted in English.
Department of Motor Vehicles chief of staff Jimmy Early says 40,000 manuals in Spanish were printed five years ago when the agency was a division of the state Department of Public Safety. Early says no more will be printed when these are distributed.
Good for South Carolina!
I bet those manuals were doing a lot of good, too... ;-)
I won’t hold my breath waiting for Missouri to end their Bosnian-language
Drivers License manual.
(I don’t know if I should blame Clinton or Dubya, but we’ve got about
40,000 to 50,000 of ‘em in greater St. Louis)

I might go to the DMV and request as many as I can. Let the burning begin!
Spoke like a true conservative!
Spoken like a true American until the ACLU gets in the mix. Hope he holds his gound.
Why do the manuals need to be distributed?
Good for South Carolina! Nice to see some backbone for a change.
