I believe stoning a true adulterer is fine.

It was good enough for God and His people.

I am a pure conservative--a Christian

Nothing worse than a self-righteous Bible-thumper that never bothered to listen to what Jesus actually taught.

Here is a nice summary from Answers.com:

According to the Gospel of John, the Pharisees, in an attempt to discredit Jesus, brought a woman charged with adultery before him. Then they reminded Jesus that adultery was punishable by stoning under Mosaic law and challenged him to judge the woman so that they might then accuse him of disobeying the law. Jesus thought for a moment and then replied, “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.” The people crowded around him were so touched by their own consciences that they departed. When Jesus found himself alone with the woman, he asked her who were her accusers. She replied, “No man, lord.” Jesus then said, “Neither do I condemn thee: go and sin no more.”

I'm sure the armchair theologians will be along to parse ever word any time now.

I don’t think OT law can be appealed to here (that was established for the Jews for God’s very specific purpose for them... you can’t claim a right to anything that was given to them unless it’s given to you independently).

However, for other reasons, I would still weigh in in favor of it. Rape, murder, treason, and adultery are IMHO the four capital offenses, and should be treated as such.

My big issue with the Muslim conception of that is that, all too off, the man gets off scott free. I’m afraid I will have to applaud this event as a possible step away from that intolerable brand misogynism.

“stoning a true adulterer is fine.”

Remind me not to look to you as a “conservative mind.”

“stoning a true adulterer is fine.”

So, Henry Hyde (40 years ago) and Newt Gingrich (10 years ago) and — I believe — Barry Goldwater many years ago, all should have been stoned.

I think you’re stoned, sir or ma’am. You’re certainly a cretinous, disgusting embarrassment.

We don’t live under that testament anymore. Repent of your
pharissee attitude as God will acommodate you with the same judgement as you judge others when you sin. And guess what eventually you will.

What is someone perfect like you doing here, in a world full of sinners? Do you go to a church, synagogue, or whatever and pray to yourself, thanking God that you are not a sinner?
