Good evening, my friend.

I hope you are well.

I see the Beltway Boys are over-caffinated today. I can perhaps listen to them as I will not have to hear myself referred to as a bigot and a nativist.

(Beltway Boys) We assess John McCain's campaign shake-up:

Fred: “He'll be fine Mort... just a little re-focusing and the cash will start flowing again... it's early.”

Mort: “You're right Fred... he's been hurt by Iraq but so have all the Republicans. I see a bounce-back on the horizon.”

the only bounce is store for McCain is if he has one once he hits the ground after having his campaign go over the cliff.

LOL. I am listening to News Watch and I have stepped through the looking glass yet again.

Hearing anything Neal Gabler says always does this to one.

Oh, and if he ever gets within 2 feet of me and does that Pelosi thing with his pointy finger, he will be drawing back a bloody stump.

Great job as usual "P"!! Warner Graham, biden, Ohhhh Noooo.

Hey, I listened to Larry Kudlow today on WABC and he and several other journalists met with GW earlier this week for 2 1/2 hours.
Among the many topics discussed was the fact that the msm fails to report enemy casualties(yes it’s true, I know you are all shocked,I was too)
Turns out for every brave soldier we lose we take out ten of theirs! What a record! Too bad you will only read it here.

ABC This Week has three Republians. At least they will count that way in any tally. Two of them happen to be against the war effort (against Bush), but that's how the DBM invites Republicans. I certainly won't watch.

I guess they missed the all-time high of the Dow Jones this week. In a Dem administration, it would be the banner headline. Now, I guess it's just a bad omen for inflation.

Preview and Analysis for Weekend of July 14th and 15th, 2007

Week two of the full court press to try to topple the Bush administration and put in place a Dhimmicrat junta, presumably to be headed by La Suprema, Nazi Pelosi herself, first among equals (within the ruling elite, that is).  The level of hysteria is growing absurd and the sheeple are dutifully allowing themselves to be stampeded, at least so far.  Interestingly the prime targets don't seem to be the people of the country this time.  The Dhimmicrats and their co-conspirators in the DBM are going over the heads of the people and appealing directly to the RINO elites, promising doom and ignominy if they don't fall in line, but implying rewards and a continuation of their cushy sinecures if they get with the program like the good Bob Michael era Republicans.

There appears to be only a little about the subpoena blizzard on these shows and likely almost no mention of the I word.  The impeachment trial balloons this last week have been widely dismissed and laughed at.  That doesn't mean they won't try to do it, just that they have more ground work to lay before they put on their show trial.  That's what the subpoena fight is for.  They out shopping for a new age Judge Sirica who won't be too easily dismissed as a partisan hack, like the plethora of Clinton and Carter appointees who have made such egregiously bad (and ultimately overturned) hyper political decisions in the last few years.

The dominant meme this week is that it's all collapsing for Bush, in Iraq, in Congress and anywhere else they can think of.  They want to paint a picture that everything is falling apart, that entropy is winning out and that a collapse is inevitable.  What their shrill narrative reminds me of is this poem by William Butler Yeats:

"The Second Coming" (1921)

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand;
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries
of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Disturbingly apropos imagery as well as an amazing description of the best and worst of those in the current debate.  It would be amazing if this poem were to come up in the public consciousness due to the current hyper partisan propaganda that passes for the news business these days.  There might be an entirely different result emerge than they expect.

NBC Meet The Press serves up weak sister Lindsey Graham for the defense of the surge (and our civilization) versus new age tough guy (and child porn author) Jim Webb as the macho voice for surrendering in the face of the sheer horror of the lowest casualties in any war in our nations history.  The Webb/Hagel amendment is a carefully tailored thing.  It is a ridiculous move that would cripple our entire military and has no chance of passage, but it was never meant to be passed.  It's entire reason for existence is to allow the Dhimmicrats to frame their arguments as being "for the troops" and any opposition as being "against the troops."  Never mind that in order to simply maintain our ability to defend ourselves, let alone fight a war anywhere for any reason, it would require the largest buildup in our military since World War II.  Nope.  It's just built for spin, not for implementation.  And Graham is simultaneously a weak advocate (read "wimp"), despite his legal experience (he was a JAG officer, you know), as well as being wildly unpopular with the Republican base.  A better debate would have been had with Joe Lieberman instead of Lindsey, which is why they didn't invite him.  Their roundtable looks interesting, with Al Hunt and his former Capital Gang nemesis, Bob "Prince of Darkness" Novak as well as former McCain and Romney political strategist Mike Murphy and Dhimmicrats "Big Loser," Bob Shrum.

CBS Face The Nation has the senior Pentagon officer for communications about the middle east, General Mark Kimmitt on for a no doubt unsubtle lynching.  The left has even started pushing the "fact" that his late father was a... horrors... lobbyist.  I don't expect it to be pretty... or fair in the least.  Well, it is CBS, after all.  I come by my distrust of them honestly and with good reason.  They also serve up that stalwart and unwavering Conservative rock of Gibraltar, Senator Lamar Alexander.  I'm ashamed to say that he is currently one of my Senators, and I'm really pleased to see the rumors that he's setting up to bail on his less than stellar Washington career and move over to Academia, instead.  It would certainly explain his current actions a lot better than anything else I can think of.  He's doing a bit of pandering for his prospective bosses.  Their "journalist experts," Time's Karen Tumulty and the Washington Post's Dan Balz, seem to indicate an emphasis on the McCain meltdown.  Beware of the journalist mob when it turns on you.  His only hope is to turn tail on Iraq and they're making no bones about what it is they want him to do in order to get back into their good graces.

Fox News Sunday offers up the first (in my area) of three appearances of National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley.  No doubt he got the invite because he's said some bad things about Musharef and Maliki recently.  It all plays into the meme of doom and collapse, of inevitable political and societal entropy.  Their next guest, Frederick Kagan, is very interesting and also gets multiple appearances this weekend.  He is an American Enterprise Institute Fellow and is one of the chief "architects" of the current surge strategy.  He actually thinks it's working, apparently not only better than it's being portrayed, but also better than expected, it seems.  I'll really be interested in seeing if that's actually what he's saying and whether he can articulate some good arguments.  For the not so loyal opposition old, wise Senator Carl Levin will make the case for surrender, reading glasses prop firmly on his nose.  Defeat is inevitable, you know, so we might as well get it over with before the election.  We should just lay back and enjoy it, as the Kennedy's say.  It looks like the Sunday Panel has an extra hand, having been one shy last week.  Not only are Bill, Fred, Mara and Juan around, but Charles joins in the fun too.  Krauthammer has written some of the best pieces of anyone on the current debate over the surge, so I'm glad to see him on.  I'd prefer to have Brit (unless he's hosting again?), but Bill and Charles together should come close to making up for his apparent absence.

CNN Late Edition has round two for Hadley as well as Senators Trent Lott, Jack Reed and Joe "Simple" Biden.  Not enough collective integrity among the three of them to make one trustworthy individual and none of them will ever be accused of being in touch with real people.  In other words, our typical political elite masters in Washington.  Trent Lott is there to "carry the water" for "our side."  Frankly we're doomed if we really need to count on him in the real world.  I find it interesting that CNN has promoted Lott from Minority Whip to Minority Leader in their listings, but that's CNN for you.  I guess they've already written the outcome for next years elections and Mitch is history.  Hoshyar Zebari, the Iraqi National Security Adviser, should be an interesting interview, though I don't think anyone in the chattering class cares about what's really going on or what the real consequences of the current stampede to defeat will be.  The CNN reporter brain trust will round things out with how bad things are for Republicans.  No doubt they've concluded that it's all because of their failure to accept defeat in Iraq or to support "humane" amnesty legislation.

ABC This Week is my area's third go 'round for Hadley.  I expect this one to be the least respectful and most hostile.  Curious George Steponallofus has his innings and he will never pass up a chance to persecute a recalcitrant Republican.  Then he moves on to the senile Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum  RINOs, Warner and Luger.  Now if they start talking about shoes, ships and sealing wax I'll scream, but that poem certainly represents their so called plan, with the Iraqis and our military playing the part of the oysters.  I'm sure they'll weep for them and deeply sympathize, but they'll mutter on about their grand traditions in the Senate and "ultimate responsibilities to the people" as the mass graves are dug on the other side of the world.  I think it's time to start the term limits movement up again.  With the new media we might just get something done this time.

The Saturday shows (half over as I type) are true to formula.  The Beltway Boys served up their bon mots as if they were holy writ and were exceptionally dismissive of any voices out in the real world that might not agree.  Surprisingly they were less in lock step this week than they have been the last few times.  Mort seems to be feeling his progressive juices flowing again and was even more dismissive of the White House and more supportive of the Dhimmicrat talking points than he has been.  And Fred seems to be the perfect example of the inside the beltway Republican "go along to get along" approach.  He doesn't want to be named a... horrors... neo-con!  CNBC's Tim Russert Show is peddling Suze Orman's latest book.  What a surprise, promoting a book by yet another insider on the favored list.  Fox News Watch was a bit more blatant in their BDS this week.  They might as well rename the show "Neal Gabler and his Posse" for all variation of opinion expressed or the real media malfeasance examined.  I think maybe the uprising and defeat of the amnesty bill has scared them and they are rallying the troops to defend the orthodoxy against the unwashed masses.  We scare them and we must be taught to listen to them, or the politicians must be taught not to listen to us.  I think this week their moving on to counting on being able to stampede the politicians before the people can get their steam up again.  It'll be interesting to see how long they can keep it up.  The Journal Editorial Report has a likely more respectful discussion with Fred Kagan about the surge.  That I want to see.  They also take on Waxman and Leahy and their insane subpoena posse.  That should be colorful.

So, the full court press is on for another week.  The Dhimmicrat/DBM troops are lined up, fully armed with their assault talking points and improvised explosive dialectic, ready for a bloody assault designed to slay McChimpy Bushitler and Darth Cheney in their bunker.  Jim Webb is taking point, with Leahy and Waxman in support and logistics roles.  The White House is likely to take the worst hits from "friendly fire" from their rear.  Can they survive?  That's largely up to us now, isn't it?

This should be cross posted to my blog at Wizards.townhall.com later today.

This thread exists primarily as a heads up for who is on the weekend talks shows, what they've been invited on to push (based on their recent pronouncements) and the spin (meme) the DBM is likely trying to push based on that information. All of this is prep work for the weekly Sunday Morning Talk Show thread posted by Alas Babylon!. That thread provides a live commentary and analysis of the Sunday talking head shows, with valuable insight and exceptional fact checking. we are the Jedi Council of FreeRepublic, at least in regards to these DBM gabfests. You wanna know what was said and what it meant, as well as where they messed up? Read that thread!

Here's a link to Mark Kilmer's excellent preview of the Sunday shows over at RedState.COM.  They seem to have taken a hit earlier in the day, but they're back up now.  His analysis is worth it just for the following statement:

Do you think Russert is grooming Webb to be the Dems' pick for veep next year? I'm having happy thoughts, right now, of a Biden-Webb '08 ticket.

Dare we dream?

I wonder if the MSMers picked up on the Hillary set up of Edwards on the open mic thing. I don't think K-man was the target, Silk Pony was and the idiot walked right into it.

Actually it may have been a twofer. I am still amazed at how the witch continually gets others to do her dirty work.

I guess someone better teach the Politically Corrupt Media and the Do Nothing Democrat leadership how to count votes. They just barely passed the latest Democrat “Defeat Now” plan in the US House with only 4 Republican votes.

EVEN if they managed to scare up enough Senators to pass their Defeat Now plan in the US Senate, they do NOT have the required 2/3rs to override a Presidential Veto.

So more fiddeling in DC while the Country burns. Higher gas prices then ever, slowing economy and nothing gets done.

Hurt by Iraq?

Rudy G has been unwavering in his support on Iraq and he is at the top of most the polls. Seems the Politically Corrupt Media only hears what the Democrat Noise Machine tells them to hear.

Meanwhile the Democrat Congress’s spent the 1st 5 months of this year fighting with the President over Iraq and say their approval numbers drop from near 50% to 19%.

So the cause MAYBE Iraq, but in the exact opposite direction then the PC media would have you believe.

I keep watching the show just to see Neal Gabler’s head finally explode on live TV. But, that is like following a drunk just to see which tree they will drive the car into. Time to find a new hobby on Saturday; doing doggy-bomb patrol in the backyard would be less aggravating.
