If Samuel, 26, returns to the fold, it would be the cherry on top of an offseason sundae that has seen the Patriots load up at linebacker (Adalius Thomas, Junior Seau) and receiver (Randy Moss...I'm glad to see that Moss and Seau passed the physical. Heck, it's a good day for me when I'm vertical.

Two mistakes in the article. Junior Seau was acquired in the previous season. The other is that football contracts are backloaded. There is a large signing bonus and small salaries the first couple of years that escalate toward the end. That way if the player declines the team can cut the player and avoid the large salary.

Sorry - one more...
Nothing I love better than hearing Gil Santos say, “and it’s another Patriots first down!”, as I let go of the wheel in my car, and extend my outstretched arm toward an imaginary end zone, whilst careening across 3 lanes of I-93...
Oh my God, I so yearn for football season....
OK, I’ll shut up now.

And now the bad news for Pats fans. The Colts suddenly reactivated Cory Simon, who may be back from the dead. If the Colts can pair Simon with last year’s free agent pick up Booger McFarland as DTs the Colts suddenly have the most dominating defensive line in football. Freeney and Mathis continue to be the fastest defensive ends in football. Although some have pointed to Freeney’s decreased output last year this was only because he was being double and triple teamed on every play, which opened things up for Mathis and middle guys. This was able to cover for a horrible linebacking corps. Add Simon to the mix and you get a lot of headaches for offensive coordinators around the league.

The New England Patriots now have one of the best teams it has ever had (at least on paper) with or without Samuel. If they stay healthy throughout the entire season, then they will definitely have a very good chance of winning it all. Go Pats!

Good, I love this guy. They are willing to spend to win, and I’m happy about that! Hell it worked for the yankees until the curse of A-rod/Hillary. (I hate the yankees, but it’s hard to deny their recipe for success.)

Why, exactly, are we talking about something as stupid a football when there is so much more IMPORTANT out there?

Looking at this years roster, one can only ask, by how many points will the Pats win the Super Bowl?
