25th Combat Aviation Brigade helicopters kicked off the operation early Thursday morning with Soldiers from Company B, 5-73 Cav. conducting an air assault into the objective areas. Throughout the operation, Soldiers identified numerous gunmen moving along the palm groves and water canals attempting to escape.
An al-Qaida safe house was also identified with gunmen moving in and out of the building. 25th CAB attack helicopters engaged and killed the gunmen fleeing the area along canals and palm groves, and helped destroy the safe house with Hellfire missiles.
“The success of this operation would not have been possible without the people of these villages who are now turning against al-Qaida,” Sutherland said. “More and more, the people and tribes are becoming disgusted and disillusioned with what al-Qaida offers. They are forming local resistance groups to guard their neighborhoods and deny the enemy any freedom of movement.”
The caches consisted of small-arms munitions, mortars, improvised explosive device making material and other enemy propaganda.
“This … not only shows that the people are determined to defeat AQIZ, but it is also proof that the people are gaining confidence in the Iraqi and Coalition Forces to provide them a safe and secure environment,” Sutherland added.

“This operation was vital as we continue to deny al-Qaida freedom of movement and space,” said Col. David W. Sure, we could have save a boatload of cash by not responding to the Pearl Harbor attack and letting the Brits and French be conquered by Nazi Germany too.
Not just in wars but in law and everything else too. You hear the left cry about Wire Tapping and terrorist watch list banning people from flying or being searched because they have the same name as someone who is on the watch list. You hear them say rights are being violated. But they don't say a word about the gun laws and the terrorist watch list. People can be erroneously placed on the terrorist watch list and that would infringe their right to bear arms. Where is the left concern for gun owners? You won't hear the left cry about that.
I think the left won't support America because they are socialist/communist. They sympathized immensely with the Soviet Union during the Cold War. They bit into the commie propaganda spewed during the Cold War too.
I also think that McCarthy was right.
I believe the commie goal was to take over College and Universities, our media, as many Judges on the bench as they can, a political Party, and Hollywood. I believe they have achieved levels of success in all the above areas.
This may sound crazy, but when I look at it, that is what I see.
