SAY NO TO OSHA AMMUNITION REGULATIONS [Online Petition]
GOPetition.com ^ | Tuesday, July 03, 2007 | John Salsgiver

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has proposed new rules that would have a dramatic effect on the storage and transportation of ammunition and handloading components such as primers or black and smokeless powder. The proposed rule indiscriminately treats ammunition, powder and primers as “explosives.” Among many other provisions, the proposed rule would:

*Prohibit possession of firearms in commercial “facilities containing explosives”—an obvious problem for your local gun store.

If OSHA says that gunpowder is an explosive, expect the BATFE to say so as well. That would mean that all guns and ammo would be illegal, and that ALL firearms are NFA weapons.

Another “solution” to a nonexistent problem, hatched by the fetid mind of a government bureaucrat.

“Another “solution” to a nonexistent problem, hatched by the fetid mind of a government bureaucrat.”

How many people have died of this problem so far? How many?

Here in Michigan, under Engler (yes, the guy who posed as a conservative), the State tried to force me to replace my plastic dryer ductwork with metal dryer ductwork in my apartment.

As it turns out, the State Fire Marshall couldn’t show any real fires due to this problem, and no injuries or fatalities caused by any dryer fires in the past 2 years.

Why did the bureaucrats want metal dryer vents? Well, some safety standards organization said that it was necessary. Who were the members of this safety organization? You got it — the manufacturers of metal dryer duct materials.

Just another run on the Second Amendment and Right to Bear Arms. The ongoing effort to DISARM THE LAW-ABIDING PUBLIC, the socialist’s dream.

I think this is more a result of Democratic politics being injected into the rule making process. Remember, bureaucrats don’t like controversy, don’t like a fight, and certainly don’t like public attention and sunlight brought into their little world (just think of a cockroach).

Someone else is pulling the strings here.

There is a Remington Arms Ammunition plant just a few miles up the road. One of my best friends works there. Although he has described some of the dangerous areas/jobs, at not time did he come across as worried or scared. There are many safety procedures in place already. There have been accidents - but very few.

What is will effectively do is send the remainder of ammo production south of the border or overseas. Few people realize that much of formerly US produced ammo is already made elsewhere. It is regulation such as this that is a major reason.

Isn’t it wonderful when our own government is obviously Hell-bent on destroying us? From failure to secure the borders, to a wholesale giveaway of our Sovereignty, to regulating businesses to death (not to mention taxes).

From what I understand, Kennedy, Obama, and Hellary are behind this idea.

By their “logic”, it would be forbidden to put ammunition in a firearm.

Toe-may-toe -- toe-mah-toe. LOL.

Anyway, the good news is they's been stuffed: Labor Department Announces It Will Revise Overreaching OSHA Explosives Rule
