This is the political version of a fig leaf shuffle. Giuliani's record on judicial appointments cannot stand the scrutiny of the base, so, as misdirection, he appoints this committee.

While the composition of the committee is certainly legitimately conservative, the candidate is not to be trusted; he can (and will, I've no doubt) nominate whatever judges he fancies, committee recommendations notwithstanding, should he become president.

As I've said many time, I trusted GHWB far more than I will ever trust Rudy and look how "Read my lips, no new taxes" turned out.
