I have a go-trailer. It’s full of all the family camping supplies. I think we could be gone in about 15 minutes with most everything we need. I’ve also got several places in mind to go in three different directions. East is Lake Huron and Canada with no weapons allowed so that’s not an option. I know the locations of several cabins and cottages where kicking the door in if I beat the owners there wouldn’t be an issue.
Fuel may be an issue. The van has a roof rack for bikes though.

siphon, or at least a hose.
gas stations will be closed in emergency, but there’s gonna be plenty of abandoned vehicles.

A map of backroads marked.
I am in South Florida.
ALL roads are back roads and jammed solid.
Even the main roads are back roads and jammed solid.
In several languages.
All spoken badly.
Ammo is more important than maps to nowhere.
Besides I have lived here about 50 years and know the place pretty well.
Good idea though. A very good idea.

Have a water purifier in the vehicle. Several Nalgene bottles in the trunk or backseat.
This is only for about 7 days with a stretch to ten.
I am planning on a “removal from site and using the vehicle as an enclosed base”. A portable house.

Dont you camp?
No one ever has ever accused me of “camping”.
The straight answer is NO. I hate it. I did all the “camping” I had to in service. A lifetime’s worth.
I am doing this crap for survival, not fun.
A prefer canned food. I have a small supply of MRE’s but that is for real extremis situations.

Sorry to disagree buddy, but did you ever try to spend real gold on the street. The majority of the public wont take it. Ill stick with the currency the other fellow mentioned but in a real emergency Id be trading extra boxes of ammo. In any situation where paper money is worthless, the top barter goods will be tobacco, alcohol, and ammo. Forget gold, silver, and Beanie Babies collectibles

Are you a guy?
I try to be.

"In any situation where paper money is worthless, the top barter goods will be tobacco, alcohol, and ammo." I'd put coffee on that list too. There will be a lot of all night watches.

Can't we just kill all the terrorists instead?
I have to carry enough stuff now.
Blackberry, iPod, 11 different shades of lipstick, small bottle of vodka (just in case), small container of olives (for the vodka, of course), brush, screaming slingshot monkey, 47 pens, wallet, 23 keys on four different keychains, ....
.

(Have you ever imagined a world with no hypothetical situations?)

Thank you for your kind suggestions.
However there are a couple of areas I would like to respectfully address.
My everyday carry weapon is a 1911 Government Model in .45acp. I carry it in condition one. I have two extra mags on my belt, along with an Emerson mini-Commander combi.
The Browning Hi-power for my go-bag is an ***extra*** piece. 9mm ammo is available EVERYWHERE, in some configuration. My Browning is a special piece. It is much more accurate than I am, and can be used for more than a defense weapon. It is also a game getter, if necessary, although I do not forsee that as a requirement.
Why would I go to a .40cal which I consider lesser, an oddball caliber and a base that requires ammo NOT readily available everywhere, when .45acp & 9X19 is? Not a sound idea towards my way of thinking.
Plus it is not that good a caliber on several levels I will be happy to discuss with you elsewhere.
With your kind permission I’ll keep the ten gallons of potable water,(changed out each month) rather than pump water which at best will have a bad flavor and odor.
The idea is survival for a short period, NOT self flagellation for fun and sport. My radio is a Sony world model. About 6inX8inX1in. It will run a very long time (about 48 hrs)on six AA batts, or a vehicle plug in AC adapter. Small and light and gives access to the entire world with it’s mast or string antennae.
I’ll stick with my Surefire “TORCHES”. An Surefire E1E Executive light (should be carried by everyone-Particularly good for the ladies purses)I carry ALL the time, and a Z2 Combat Light.
Absolutely the highest quality you can get. and Never fails.
Blood stop products can be acquired at police/fire/emt supply houses. Try Galls. It is one of the largest. L.A.Police Gear for another. Medical supply stores in any major municipality has it as well and can help you put a survival emerg kit together.
Keep it light and keep it strictly for emergencies. Splints can be IMPORVISED. the best word for the situation, should it occur.

Gas stations will be closed, as in Katrina, so no gas.
You are right. check my list and you will see a ten gallon container of diesel.
I have a diesel VW that gets me roughly between 32 and 35 mpg depending on the roads and area.
I keep tanked up. The car too.(dont drop below 3/4)
