In an interview with "Primetime," Daniel said, "I'm a straight-up cocaine addict. I don't really drink very much, although I have abused alcohol in the past. And I don't use any other drugs. I don't take pills. I don't do anything. I'm a diehard coke head."
Daniel let "Primetime" follow his progress through drug rehabilitation, to shine a light on the mind of an addict and to share the personal issues that may have landed the 46-year-old in rehab for the ninth time.
... In the 18 years since that first hit of cocaine, Daniel's life has been marred by failed public attempts at sobriety. His drug problem started making headlines following a overdose in New York City's Plaza Hotel in 1998, and he had another very public relapse in 2005 on VH1's "Celebrity Fit Club," on which he erupted during filming. Daniel admitted to becoming addicted to pain medication and eventually left the show.
In the past year, his spiral has continued. On April 22, 2006, the Santa Monica Police Department arrested Daniel for possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance. In July he crashed his Ford Thunderbird on Bundy Drive in Los Angeles.
On Nov. 11, 2006, he was arrested for allegedly stealing a SUV, and for suspicion of drug use. In the end, criminal charges for the stolen car were dismissed; however, it led to a violation in his probation and the threat of a prison sentence.
Daniel checked himself into Renaissance Malibu, one of the most exclusive rehabs in the country and agreed to allow "Primetime" to follow his progress from detox to release, and his investigation into the "wreckage of his past" the pain he has caused to people in his life because of his addiction.

So what’s Alec’s excuse?
1. Who is this clown?
2. Why should I care about his cocaine habit?
3. That is all.
Baldwins is as Baldwins does.......
If I were related to Alec, I’d have a substance abuse problem too.
I have 4 children. I can’t imagine how I’d feel if 3 of the 4 were having drug/alcohol problems over and over again. 1 would be bad enough.
I caught the last half hour, and I was struck by how arrogant he still was. “I’m the best actor, I’d be at the top of my class in law school if I had gone, etc.” As I understand it, recovery is a humbling process, or should be. I don’t hold out much hope for his sobriety, but I hope he makes it.
I gained a lot of insight into the family and on many levels it explained why Alec is such a lunatic, bigheaded (and not coincidentally leftist) dope.
Whooda thunk it?
Amen.
Can a “Flav A Flav, Rehab Reality Show” be far behind?
I had to perform more pleasurable tasks: clean grease trap of all Baldwins, snake toilet for Baldwin blockages, trim my fungal toe of excess Baldwins, scrape Baldwins off of floor behind stove, etc...
Dang, I missed it.
Stephen
Pretty good for a guy I have never heard of.
I can’t name one movie he was in and only a couple the other brothers were in.
He will end up like John Belushi and a host of other morons who OD then choke on their own vomit in some hotel room.
A lot of straight-to-video movies with bad softcore porn that play on Cinemax or Showtime in the wee hours of the morning... Daniel Baldwin is only a familiar face to sufferers of insomnia.
Call me a cynic, I know.
He was in one of the best series ever made, Homicide Life on the Streets.
